I highly recommend the Dark Tower books from Stephen King, if you haven't read them already. Especially the first four in the series.
Currently I'm on book 4 of Isaac Asimov's Foundation series. Great if you're more into science fiction.
i've always been a bit of a reader - but only reading about topics i find interesting, e.g.
natural history, dinosaurs, etc.. recently i've started to select, buy and read novels.. this year i've bought and read frankenstein (mary shelly), dracula (bram stoker), the hound of the baskervilles (a. conan doyle), 'salem's lot (stephen king), jurassic park (michael crichton) and the firm (john grisham).. i have an inclination towards horrors and thrillers.. what fiction have you been reading?.
could you recommend anything?.

he asks the barkeep for 13 glasses of water.
he turns to his 12 companions and winks....
Kind of long, but:
While walking down the street one day, a presidential candidate is tragically hit by a car and dies. His soul arrives in heaven and is met by St. Peter at the entrance.“Welcome to heaven,” says St. Peter. “Before you settle in, it seems there is a problem. We seldom see a high-ranking official around these parts, you see, so we’re not sure what to do with you.”“No problem, just let me in,” says the politician.“Well, I’d like to, but I have orders from the higher-ups. What we’ll do is have you spend one day in hell and one in heaven. Then you can choose where to spend eternity.”“Really? I’ve made up my mind. I want to be in heaven,” says the politician.“I’m sorry, but we have our rules.”And with that, St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell. The doors open and he finds himself in the middle of a green golf course. In the distance is a clubhouse, and standing in front of it are all his friends and other politicians who had worked with him.Everyone is very happy and in evening dress. They run to greet him, shake his hand, and reminisce about the good times they had getting rich at the expense of the people. They then dine on lobster, caviar and the finest Champagne. Also present is the devil, who really is a very friendly guy and who is having a good time dancing and telling jokes. They are all having such a good time that before the politician realizes it, it is time to go.this should be titled "jerks for jesus afraid of their own shadow, sexuality".
seriously, someone thinks that a video on how to be nice to people different from him is an affront to his god.

Wow. Even JWs aren't that fanatical.
Those videos aren't promoting the "gay lifestyle", or even teaching people about it. They're meant to educate employees on how to behave in the workplace. The company is trying to protect itself from liability.
i mean this with all due respect, i would like to hear from genuine people who think jw have it wrong and then what is the truth?.
im not talking about silly little quibbles here and there.. is jehovah real?
the the bible is word?
Perhaps you would get the answer you seek if you were less narrow and dogmatic in your definition of "truth". Or better yet, come to grips with the fact that such a thing as 'absolute spiritual truth' doesn't actually exist, and any organization claiming to have it might be, shall we say, full of shit.
Just my two cents.

its going to be a real beautiful place when its finished.. they are going for quality over quantity.
it used to be accommodation for a few thousand permanent residents, now its looking like less than a thousand permanent with the possibility of a few thousand more in temporary accommodation should the need arise.. some say the plans are going to be like a garden of eden in england :) i mean they had farming in london over the years but this is going to be epic what they are planning for temple farm at chelmsford.. they are planting thousands (literally) of fruit trees, including tropical fruits in huge green houses, huge vines yards and then the same basic farming activities as before.
Nicolau beat me to the punch. If you deny the WT's bloodguilt based on their woefully misguided blood policy, then you're as delusional as they are.
And you're right. They don't partake in wars. They just wait eagerly for their bloodthirsty god to wipe out the billions of people on earth who don't think and act like them. I guess they're more partial to mass genocide.
it is a pain that certain individuals pride themselves on hating god, who created everything.
like it's understandable that you choose to not believe in him because of your selfishness or thinking skills but to hate him is forcing it a bit.
i'm very thankful that those such as myself have the courage to believe in the lord.
I think what atheists hate is having their views constantly misrepresented by sanctimonious believers. Your OP is filled with so many strawman arguments, I don't even know where to begin. Is the idea that atheists have come to the conclusion that god doesn't exist through extensive research, and not the desire to "rebel", really such a difficult concept for you to grasp? Or are you just trolling us?

church shouldn't have divulged child-porn suspect's alleged confession, attorney says.
elders in the jehovah’s witnesses church violated the confidentiality of steven lindhorst of paso robles when they told police about an alleged confession he made regarding child pornography, according to a defense motion.. .
So far no one's mentioned that the elders' reporting to the police is highly unusual - in fact, it represents a welcome change.
Agreed. Though I have to wonder how forthcoming they would have been had the man still been a member of the congregation.
they say women are hard to figure out.
she is is proactive about retirement planning but talks about how things might be in the new system.
she shuns one of our children (dfd) but put him as beneficiary one one of her life insurance policies.
I would say that a lot more JWs than we realize are 'hedging their bets'.
My oldest brother is the PO in his congregation, and as hardcore as they come. Even he has been putting money into an IRA account. He's spent the last thirty years pioneering, believing that the end was right around the corner, while at the same time, preparing for the reality that it won't happen in his lifetime.
i have been studying with the jw since june of 2016 and they say only the ones who make up the 144.
000 and can partake of the bread and cup.
is this true?.
Also bear in mind that JWs once taught that the number of those who have the heavenly calling was sealed in 1935. Who these 'anointed' are, partaking of the emblems, is anybody's guess.
bit of a long winding topic title but the thread on the dub in the bunker video made me think of what thing the wts does that are seen as basically impossible for anyone else to do and therefore evidence of holy spirit and god's blessing, yet those same things are done by the rest of the world day in, day out.. i have a few examples:.
- ability to buy a feck off big printing press and print thousand of magazines an hour.
only that every other big publishing organisation uses the same presses to do the same thing.. - ability to get inexperienced people to act using an acting coach as well as produce feature length films with reasonably high production value levels and special effects.
Don't forget about the worldwide preaching work. The holy spirit must be behind that. Except when it comes to yielding actual results, that is. Then the holy spirit is pretty impotent.
